Everything seems to happen at
once, all around you as with others life changes. Current events
affect the way business is done, and finding answers outside the
arena can be difficult. This membership can be the dividend you've
been looking for!
Dear friend:
If you are like me, you have trouble
sorting everything out. Finding an impartial, reliable source
of information on wetland issues has become increasingly difficult
in these times of Supreme Court decisions, changing regulations,
and regional differences.
The New York State Wetlands Forum
is available to help. A non-advocacy organization, the New York
State Wetlands Forum has addressed and will continue to provide
coverage on issues such as:
o
Supreme Court Rulings on Isolated Wetlands
and Takings Claims
o
Mitigation Programs - "Are they failing?"
o
Acquiring and Managing Wetlands
o
The Corps’ Proposal on Reissuance and Modification
of the Nationwide Permits (effective February 11, 2002)
o
Wetland Plantings and Their Appropriate
Water Depths
Your $35.00 tax-deductible membership
contribution will be pooled with contributions from individuals
from throughout New York State – environmental planners, scientists,
professors, land stewards, volunteers, policy makers, students,
natural resource managers, lawyers, government staff, homebuilders,
developers, land protection advocates, and many others too numerous
to name here.
Membership contributions enable
the New York State Wetlands Forum to provide information about
current and developing issues within the wetlands arena, including:
o
Property rights
o
Judicial decisions
o
Legislative updates
o
Wetland stewardship
o
State and Federal wetland changes
o
Scientific research
o
And much, much more!
Additional information about our
programs, conferences, workshops, and other activities along with updates
on wetland issues is available on our website at www.wetlandsforum.org.
Becoming a member of the New York State Wetlands Forum means so
much more than just mailing in a check. You will receive the
following membership benefits:
o
An information-packed bi-annual newsletter,
The Forum, that reviews and discusses late-breaking wetland topics,
regulatory updates, and other useful items.
o
An invitation and reduced registration for
our very popular two-day annual conference, where people interested in
wetland issues from across New York State gather to exchange information
and experiences while attending a variety of presentations and field trips.
o
Announcements of other meetings, workshops,
and field excursions in New York State.
o
Opportunities to advance wetland
knowledge in New York State by serving on our Board of Governors
and/or participating on the Forum’s committees.
May we count on your tax-deductible
membership contribution this year? If so, please renew or become
a member today. Just print and complete the form below and mail
with your contribution.
Many thanks,
Kevin Bernstein
