Fishery Research and Sea Lamprey Research programs of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission
PLEASE NOTE: A new on-line pre-proposal submittal system will be used for FY2009. This system will increase the efficiency and accuracy of the pre-proposal submittal process. Instructions for this system can be found at http://www.akpeerreview.org/GLFC/Pre_Proposal/login.cfm
Pre-proposal Deadline: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 11:59 PM EST for both research programs. Pre-proposals received after this deadline will not be considered. the complete program funding schedule is available at http://www.glfc.org/research.php
Funding: Pre-proposals for the 2009 funding cycle for the Fishery Research and Sea Lamprey Research programs of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission are now being solicited. New projects may not begin before January 1, 2009. Awards will be up to $100,000 per year. The total amount of funding available for new projects within the Fishery Research Program is estimated at $200,000, and the total amount of funding available for new projects within the Sea Lamprey Research Program is estimated at $500,000.
Projects should address one or more of the following: the priorities identified by the
commission's strategic vision, lake committees,the Great Lakes Fish Health Committee, the Council of Lake Committees; and the Fishery Research Program's research themes (as follows):
* Ecosystem Dysfunction and Fish Health
* Ecosystem Health of Large Lakes
* Restoration of Native Great Lakes Fishes
* Council of Lake Committees Research
* Fish Health Committee Research
Projects should address one or more of the following: the priorities identified by the commission's strategic vision and the Sea
Lamprey Research Program's research themes (as follows):
* Sterile Male Release Technique
Special request for pre-proposals from the Sea Lamprey Research Program:
Especially encouraged are pre-proposals that will estimate the survival probability of a lake trout after a sea lamprey attack. A field-based estimate of the probability of survival would help to reduce uncertainty associated in calculating economic injury levels.
